Bio Sketch

  1. Juxtaposed with the sociopolitically and emotionally charged opening phrase, "border crossing," the multivalent closing word, "loaded," lifts the haiku out of the ordinary. And this poem reminds me of the following haiku written by Joan Prefontaine:

    border

    more than two sides to it

    crossing
