Bio Sketch
Robert Witmer is an American who has lived for the past 40 years in Japan. Although he is still actively involved in teaching, including courses in haiku, he retired from his full-time university position last spring. In 2016, he published his first book of haiku, Finding a Way.
The opening line sets the scene well while the buildup to the last line is visually and emotionally effective; altogether Robert's imagistic haiku works well literally and metaphorically.
