Bio Sketch
After retiring from practicing law, S. M. Kozubek spends more time now writing poems. His haiku and tanka have appeared in Frogpond, A Hundred Gourds, Prune Juice, Modern Haiku, bottle rockets, Skylark, is/let, Red Moon Anthology, hedgerow, and other publications. He is a member of the Haiku Society of America.
S. M. Kozubek's tanka is tightly structured with an emotional undercurrent that runs through these visually and emotionally evocative images. And the old outfielder's love for baseball is heightened by the implicit contrast between the dim light reflected from icicles ("drip[ping] at twilight") and the sparkle in the outfielder's eyes ("eyes that glisten").
