  1. The shift in theme and the use of Christmas "lights" are emotionally effective, leaving room for the reader's reflection on the essence/meaning of Christmas/a loving relationship.

  2. Untangling an old argument (again) without hope of resolution (apparently) set in an Xmas tragedy of synthetic ritual joy and glad tidings - a neverendingstory of fixed ideas tape looping to the grave of all changes.
