VerseWrights features winter-themed haiku/tanka on its homepage.
first snow boots
too big
this world
geese unzip the sky
a snowflake trembles
on your eyelashes
tenth winter...
my dog and I walk
the full moon home
i am
a prisoner
of this
snowflake
melt me
About VerseWrights:
My name is Carl Sharpe. I was an English teacher (high school, community college) for forty years. During that time I taught writing, and often creative writing. I have been writing poetry all my life, and in my retirement, I started swapping poems with friends and former students. At some point it occurred to me that it might be fun to start a webpage for poets to publish and enjoy each others' writing. VerseWrights is the result... excepted from its About Page.
A Milestone from Carl Sharpe:
ReplyDeleteOn December 5, next week, VerseWrights is turning one year old. Everything about the site is growing, but most notably our following. The reason for this, of course, is the poetry. And so it is the poets we thank first for their contributions, both written and performed. Our audience is quite amazing. Visitors come from all over the world, and it is both humbling and exciting. Thus we extend our gratitude to all who visit and, yes, subscribe to this Update. Poetry is more than alive—it keeps us alive to everything, to life. We are doing our best to to help further that principle and are grateful to all who are involved in this adventure.
