Bio Sketch
Larry Kimmel is a US poet. He holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and Pittsburgh University, and has worked at everything from steel mills to libraries. Recent books are this hunger, tissue-thin, and shards and dust. He lives with his wife in the hills of Western Massachusetts.
This haiku is about the ways of seeing, one of which is to see the gap between "tired from a day in the field, I close my eyes" and "apple blossoms," filling in [and see] ... [with the mind's eye].
ReplyDeleteL1&2 depict the reality on the ground while L3 portrays the reality in the mind, which will be eventually realized one day.
Composing and reading haiku comes from the act of "simply seeing" -- "seeing, simply."

A wonderful image that we can all relate to...at the end of a hard day a simple hope but knowing tomorrow one begins again.
