One Man's Maple Moon: Autumn Hill Tanka by Larry Kimmel

English Original

waiting for your call
unable to make sense
of the book I'm reading
I gaze at the faded tapestry
of an autumn hill

Lynx, 14:3, Autumn 1999

Larry Kimmel

Chinese Translation (Traditional)

等候你的來電時
無法理解我正在讀
的這本書精意
凝視那一片山丘
褪色的秋天景色

Chinese Translation (Simplified)

等候你的来电时
无法理解我正在读
的这本书精意
凝视那一片山丘
褪色的秋天景色

  1. Ls 1-3 establish the thematic and emotional context while Ls 4&5 enhance the tone and mood of the poem.

A well-crafted tanka tightly structured with an emotional undercurrent.
