Mark Gilbert is based in the UK and has been writing haiku for over 20 years. Examples of his work may be found in the journals Heron's Nest, Sonic Boom and Under the Basho. Mark spent some of his childhood in the US and this continues to influence his writing.
The opening line sets the scene while the unexpected yet interesting (or even funny) last line captures a seasonal moment from a fresh perspective.
