  1. L1 sets the thematic context while the playful phrase, "take turns moving," in L2 effectively conveys these joyful, intimate moments we all crave for in the dog day afternoon.

Marilyn's visually and emotionally evocative haiku reminds me of one of my playful "garden hose" poem:

    our laughter flows
    from one street block
    to another ...
    mother's garden hose
    spouting a rainbow

    German Translation by Tony Böhle

    unser Gelächter
    von einem Straßenzug
    zum anderen
    Mutters Gartenschlauch
    speit einen Regenbogen
