Bio Sketch

H. Gene Murtha, a naturalist and poet, sponsored and judged the first haiku contest for the inner city children of Camden, NJ., for the Virgilio Group, of which he was a lifetime member. He was widely published for his work in haikai literature from the USA to Japan.

  1. Christina Nguyen's Comment: I admire a good pivot line and I like the way “kitchen table” holds the heart of the home and the heart of the poem. Here the table belongs to everyone,even the lowly little mouse. Everyone shares their challenges and takes comfort in what food they have...
