Joanne van Helvoort lives in a small village in the northern part of the Netherlands. She has been reading haiku for over 40 years, now she is trying to write them herself.
The contrasts (visual and emotional) between the shape of a sickle moon and the curl of the narrator's 's lying loved one's lips are poignantly effective, and it might be interesting to do a thematically and visually comparative reading of the following haiku:
