A Poet's Roving Thoughts: Rivertown Poets Interview with Chuck Brickley

NeverEnding Story contributor, Chuck Brickley, was featured at Rivertown Poets (first-Mondays poetry series that has been hosted by the Aqus Cafe in Petaluma, CA since 2013) on December 6th, 2021. His book of haiku, earthshine (now in its 4th printing), won the THF Touchstone Award for Distinguished Books 2017; the HSA Merit Book Award 2017, Honorable Mention; and the inaugural Marianne Bluger Book Award 2020, Honourable Mention.

Here is the link to his interview and poetry reading. And the following are some of featured haiku selected for your reading pleasure.

Selected Haiku:

a car
at the cliff's edge
the Milky Way

slow harmonica
the glow of the fireplace
on his closed eyes

alley frost
except
where he slept

age spots
      a fistful of sand
sifting back to sand

drought moon
another tear
in the window screen

pre-dawn hush
the forest
still dripping

waterfall spray
a hummingbird draws up
to a rainbow

a snowshoe hare
hops through its breath
morning star

earthshine
her voice breaks
into a whisper
