Bio Sketch

Marion Alice Poirier is a lifetime resident of Boston, MA. She began writing haiku in 2001 and eventually began to teach haiku in workshops on Poetry Circle and Emerging Poets. She also write short poetry and have been published in on-line haiku and short poetry journals like Tinywords, Hedgerow and The Heron's Nest.

L1 sets the tone and mood of the haiku, while unexpected yet thematically significant and emotionally powerful L3 could be read as either one of possible causes or the result of the violent action depicted in L2, a "slammed door," which functions like a metaphor of failed communication with her loved one.

    A poignantly effective middle-of-the-story winter haiku where the coldness, both physical and emotional, in etched in every line.
