Bio Sketch
Kristyn Blessing is a writer, artist, and teacher. She has taught English as a Second Language and Composition at universities in Michigan, Wisconsin, and China. These places and other travels influence her writing. Her poetry has been published in Akitsu Quarterly, Ribbons, Atlas Poetica, Failed Haiku, and others.
The colors (Ls 1,2, 5) used in this middle-of-the-story "change tanka" is layered with multiple meanings, and the forgetting of the recipe for red (Ls 3-5) effectively takes on emotional and symbolic significance; it could fountion as a symptomatic reading of the speaker's relationship with his/her loved ones/friends.
