Bio Sketch

Jo Balistreri continues to write haiku, thinks of it as life flow--trying to live in the present makes everything new everyday. She enjoys that  focus, and the challenge of trying to write to the heart of what's seen, losing herself in the process.

  1. This fresh, visually and emotionally evocative jux. of the "sanderlings" (
medium-sized “peep” sandpipers recognizable by their obsessive wave-chasing habits) and a boy's/man-designed "wind-up robot
chas[ing] the surf" is effective and thought-provoking:

In the tide of life, is there a distinct difference between the natural, i.e., the sanderlings, and the man-made, i.e. a wind-up robot?
