Bio Sketch
Karen Harvey lives on the beach in North Wales, UK. Her work has been published in anthologies, journals and online. At the beginning of 2015 she turned her attention to haiku. She plans to write a haiku a day in 2016.
The unexpected thematic turn at the end of the poem effectively lifts the poem out of the ordinary and successfully makes a counterpoint to Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken," especially to its last three lines:
ReplyDeleteTwo roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Karen's haiku reminds me one of my own:
fork in the road...
standing still to hear
the leaves
Honorable Mention, 2010 Winter Moon Awards for Haiku
Thank you for translating and publishing my poem today. It was indeed a reflection on the theme of Robert Frost's poem. Thank you for sharing your poem too.
ReplyDeleteLovely - congratulations.
