Keyes lives in Sydney, Australia in a small house decorated with ship
models, antique irons and trivets. And a cocker spaniel. Her retirement
would be very empty without the lure of writing tanka, haiku, senryu,
cherita and other poetry.
Ls 1-3 set the scene while the turn, thematic and emotional, in L5 makes this tanka serve well as poetic food for thought on aging gracefully and growing wisely.
