Benson was a Pushcart Prize nominated haiku poet. Her haiku were published in many of the world's leading haiku
journals and magazines. Jan was a member of The World Haiku Association

The contrasts (visual, emotional, ...) between the image of row upon row of big,fat pumpkins evoked by L1 and the image of old straw-man/thinning of Ls 2&3 make this seasonal haiku effectively relatable.
