Bio Sketch
Carol Jones lives and works on a farm in one of the South Wales valleys, UK. Although she hasn't the time to get involved in the wider environmental issues, she does document her own environment as she goes about her work.
Carol's middle-of-the-story tanka effectively builds, line/poetic phrase by line/poetic phrase, to an unexpected yet visually and emotionally poignant ending that reveals the theme of coping with pain. On a second reading, evaluated in the thematic context of Ls 4&5, self-harm as a (negative) coping strategy, the prefatory image seems a shadowing of the future injury events.
