  1. L1 depicts a theme-setting scene while visually and emotionally vivid and seasonal pumpkin image of Ls 2&3, functioning like a "harmless" joke to play on patients, enhances the "hai" (comic) aspect of the haiku.

    And the haiku below could be read as its sequel:

    my mouth
    full of fingers, the dentist
    asks about holidays
