Bio Sketch
Angelo
B. Ancheta lives in Rizal, Philippines. His haiku and other poems have
appeared in various journals and anthologies both in print and online.
He also writes fiction, some of which have won prizes in contests. He
believes that writing complements object-oriented programming, which he
does in daytime.
On the first reading, the opening image of trickling rain helps set the scene and mood; on the second reading, it takes on added poignancy, reminding readers of one of the biggest lies propagated by neoliberal politicians and economists -- "trickle-down" economics.
ReplyDeleteNote:
"Trickle-down economics" and the "trickle-down theory" are terms in United States politics to refer to the idea that tax breaks or other economic benefits provided to businesses and upper income levels will benefit poorer members of society by improving the economy as a whole --excerpted from the Wikipedia entry, Trickle-down economics
