  1. The juxtaposition of "old chestnuts" and "X-mas {not Christmas) song fest" and "Senior Center" is emotionally poignant, and the matter-of-fact tone of this shasei haiku says something loudly about the way our consumer-oriented graying society keeps this centuries-old tradition "alive."
