my umbrella outstretched

Bio Sketch

Gregory Skala is a retired public school teacher living in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.  He is married and has three grown children.  His hobbies include creative writing, chess, photography, vegetable gardening, and flamenco dancing.

  1. Juxtaposed with "freezing rain," which helps set the tone and mood of the poem, the unexpected yet visually and emotionally powerful last line lifts the poem out of the ordinary.
