Bio Sketch
Laurence Stacey is a PhD student in Kennesaw State University's International Conflict Management program. His dissertation focuses on representations of conflict in visual media. Laurence also teaches literature at both Chattahoochee Technical College and Reinhardt University.
The unexpected yet relatable last line opens up a contemplative space for the reader's reflection on commodified religiosity, and on a second reading, the opening line effectively adds thematic and emotional significance to the tanka.
