Bio Sketch
Renée Owen’s full-length haiku & haibun collection, Alone on a Wild Coast (Snapshot Press) received a Touchstone Distinguished Book Award. A psychotherapist and visual artist, Renée enjoys performing her poetry with her musician husband’s accompaniment on shakuhachi, guitar, mandolin & harmonica, and hiking the wilds near their Northern California home.
The opening image sets the scene while the unexpected yet thematically significant last line adds poignancy to the haiku. And on second reading, the opening image effectively carries symbolic significant.
