Hanson lives in sub-tropical Queensland, Australia where he enjoys his
proximity to the Pacific Ocean and areas of rainforest. He is a
committee member of the Australian Haiku Society and is published in
various journals and anthologies.
A vivid scene of contrasts ("luminous" squid vs the "dark")is keenly portrayed in this shasei (sketch from life) haiku. And I find it interesting to make a comparative reading of the following famous gendai haiku:
