Bio Sketch

Rebecca Drouilhet is a retired registered nurse who works as a poetry moderator.  Her work has won awards, including a Sakura award in the 2012 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Contest and an Honorable mention in the same contest for 2017 as well as Editor's Choice awards and others. She enjoys reading, word games and spending time with her large family.

  1. A deeply personal moment is shared by the poet with a haiku that starts with a question and ends with a concrete image. Very poignant is the question that implies ‘how much longer’. The beauty of the haiku is that the poet’s question will remain unanswered, as is the case with most of our existential doubts and queries. The poet too may be aware of it but nonetheless, asks the question on behalf of the reader. The use of the ellipsis to hold the question in our minds a little longer is skilful. It is difficult to pass by the beauty and melancholy of the final image – the night sky in Autumn. ...
