Bio Sketch

A A Marcoff is an Anglo-Russian poet, born in Iran, who has lived in Africa, Iran, France and Japan. He is a much-published mainstream poet as well as a writer of tanka. He lives near the beautiful River Mole in Surrey, England.

  1. A sense of yugen is effectively conveyed through the striking image of this brightly colored (mainly blue) bird, kingfisher, burning in a blue atomic dream.

    Note: "A kingfisher, said to be the first bird to fly from Noah's ark after the deluge, supposedly received the orange of the setting sun on its breast and the blue of the sky on its back. It was considered a symbol of peace, promising prosperity and love."
