Bio Sketch
Marilyn Humbert lives in the Northern suburbs of Sydney NSW Australia. Her tanka and haiku appear in international and Australian journals, anthologies and online. Some of her free verse poems have been awarded prizes in competitions and some have been published.
The theme of transition (between seasons, between life and death) is effectively conveyed through the visually and emotionally poignant juxtaposition of silent raked pebbles and a cicada shell. This haiku could be read as a counter-poem or sequel to the following haiku by Basho:
