Gregory Longenecker primarily writes short-form poetry and recently released his book, somewhere inside yesterday (Red Moon Press), whose title was taken from a haiku shortlisted for a 2018 Touchstone Award.
Enhanced by the use of syntactic parallelism (Ls 1&2), the visually evocative and symbolically rich image of departing "geese circl[ing] once to see where they've been" effectively conveys the meaning of this bitter word, farewell:
