Bio Sketch

Carole Johnston has been writing Japanese short form poetry for twelve years and has published haiku and tanka in various print and online journals.   1. Ls 1&2 seem to depict a "meditative" road trip, then a shift, thematic and tonal, in L3 makes this journey haiku visually and emotionally fresh and highly relatable. And unexpected yet effective L3 enhances the "hai" aspect of the haiku.

    And the following haiku included in the same collection could be read as a prequel:

    I drive
    into a eucharist
    of rain
