Bio Sketch
A Pushcart Prize nominee, Jennifer Hambrick was the First Place winner of the Haiku Society of America’s 2018 Haibun Awards Competition and has received numerous honors for her free verse and Japanese short-form poetry, including in the Jane Reichhold Memorial Haiga Competition, in the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku Invitational, from NHK World TV’s Haiku Masters series, from the Ohio Poetry Association, and others. Ls 1-3 depict a realistist circle-drawing scene, while the twist, visual, emotional, and most importantly, thamatic, in Ls 4&5 makes this tanka thought-provoking and effective as a sic-fi poem about drawing/art as a form of first expression, then self-erasure.
