English Original
morning wakes
to every bird singing
its own song
and yet ... my lone voice
unheard in the crowd

Chinese Translation (Traditional)
早晨醒來
聽到每一隻鳥兒
唱它自己的歌
然而…我的孤單聲音
在人群中是聞所未聞
Chinese Translation (Simplified)
早晨醒来
听到每一只鸟儿
唱它自己的歌
然而…我的孤单声音
在人群中是闻所未闻
Bio Sketch
Marilyn Humbert lives in the Northern suburbs of Sydney NSW Australia. Her tanka and haiku appear in international and Australian journals, anthologies and online. Her free verse poems have been awarded prizes in competitions and some have been published.
The contrasts, visual, audio, and relational, between Ls 1-3 ans Ls 4&5 make this mood tanka poignantly effetive.
ReplyDeleteAnd my tanka below could be read as a sequel/poetic response to Marilyn's:

rises high above all others ...
finding a crack
in the Great Wall
of men's talk
