Bio Sketch

Michele Root-Bernstein appears in A New Resonance 6; the 2016 chapbook, Scent of the Past…ImperfectHaiku 2014Haiku 2016; and on three rocks in Ohio. She is co-author with Francine Banwarth of The Haiku Life, What We Learned as Editors of Frogpond and facilitator of a Michigan haiku study group.

  1. Visually concrete and symbolically rich Ls 1-3, "rock" (solid steadiness), "rose" (love/passion), and "rain" (source of life/renewal) are all the place the speaker's belonging for as indicated in Ls 4&5, showing the speaker's personality traits.

    This five-line poem works well as a character/persona haiku or tanka whose first three lines can work on their own because of their significance, visual and symbolic.
