Bio Sketch

Marietta Jane McGregor is a Canberra-based botanist and journalist who has pursued varied careers in research and science communication at Australian universities and the CSIRO. Having spent much of her life trying to explain things, Marietta now tries to let them explain themselves through an early love, haiku.

Combined with the quick pace of a one-liner, the thematically and visually resonant juxtaposition of the Pointillist (who employs the technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image) and rain speckling gallery windows makes this haiku effective.
