Bio Sketch

Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, kjmunro moved to the Yukon Territory in 1991. She is Membership Secretary for Haiku Canada, & is an Associate Member of the League of Canadian Poets. She founded 'solstice haiku', a monthly haiku discussion group, in 2014, & has a leaflet with Leaf Press.

  1. L1 establishes the theme while L2 reveals not only personal attachment but also national identity. And on a second reading, the "boxes" in L3 effectively carry symbolic significance.

    This haiku reminds me of one of my tanka on immigration:

    piece by piece
    I packed 40 years
    into 60 boxes
    once in Canada
    they fill an Ajax attic
