Bio Sketch

Jo McInerney is an Australian writer living in country Victoria with her husband and a calico cat. She has been writing haiku and tanka since 2007, having been introduced to the forms by a friend. She previously wrote mainly free verse.

The unexpected yet and visually and emotionally powerful last line makes an effective shift in tone and mood, sparking the reader's reflection on time passing and the destructive power of nature. This heartfelt haiku reminds me of a similar scene in Part II, Time Passes,of "To the Lighthouse" by Virginia Woolf.
