Bio Sketch

Marietta Jane McGregor is a Canberra-based botanist and journalist who has pursued varied careers in research and science communication at Australian universities and the CSIRO. Having spent much of her life trying to explain things, Marietta now tries to let them explain themselves through an early love, haiku.

  1. L1 sets the seasonal context while the freshly captivating image of "sheepdogs bark[ing] the fog/off the sun" in Ls 2&3 enhances the emotionally suggestive power of the poem
