Bio Sketch
Sidney Bending is a retired graphic artist. She has published poetry and flash fiction in North America, Europe and New Zealand. Her haiku and haibun have won several awards. Sidney is a member of Haiku Canada, the Haiku Society of America and writes collaboratively with The Heron's Quill poetry group.
The opening line sets the scene while the unexpected yet powerful last line demonstrates the sensually and emotionally suggestive power of the haiku. And on second reading, the opening line successfully carries emotional and symbolic significance.
