Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, kjmunro moved to the Yukon Territory in 1991. She is Membership Secretary for Haiku Canada & a member of the League of Canadian Poets. Her debut poetry collection is contractions (Red Moon Press, 2019).
The contrasts (thematic, visual, emotional,..) between the two parts of the haiku are greatly enhanced/highlighted by the quick pace of a one-line format and the use of this late medieval poetic expression ("murder"/flock or group of crows).
ReplyDeleteFYI: "The basis in fact is probably that occasionally crows will kill a dying crow who doesn't belong in their territory or much more commonly feed on carcasses of dead crows. The term "murder" was used to describe a flock of crows as far back as the 15th century, according to the Oxford English Dictionary."
