Joanne Morcom is a poet and social worker who lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She has published four poetry collections and her work appears in online and print journals and anthologies.
Ls 1&2 depict a dark, ominous scene while the shift, from the natural/physical world to the mental state/inner mindscape, in L5 effectively enhances the tone and mood of this forest fire tanka.
