Bio Sketch
Carol Purington used tanka to capture flashes of natural loveliness and psychological insight that drifted around her rural New England home. Her second collection of tanka, Faces I Might Wear, was published in 2013.
The emotionally ("cool") and symbolically ("slippery") rich tactile image of Ls 1&2 adds emotional weight to this highly relatable and heartfelt statement of Ls 3-5 about one's (adult ) child's developmental milestone: separation and independence: The uses and symbolic significance of L3, "the globe," shows something significant about the speaker's daughter's view/vision of life or personality.
