Julie Warther is an associate editor at The Heron's Nest and was instrumental in establishing The Forest Haiku Walk in Millersburg, Ohio and the Seasons of Haiku Trail at The Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio.
Ls 1&2 set the theme and tone while the twist/surprise ending in L3 adds emotional weight and psychological depth to the haiku. And there are at least two readings of L3:

2) walking in a cemetery while thinking about death through one's inner monologue to reinvigorate one's life
