Bio Sketch

Neal Whitman lives with his wife, Elaine, in Pacific Grove, California, where he is a docent at Point Pinos Lighthouse. Visitors who come there from near and far inspire him to write poetry that takes the “particular" to convey the “universal". Neal is Vice President of the United Haiku and Tanka Society.

  1. Ls 1&2 depict a beach scene about relationship in a conciliatory tone while L3 is layered with multiple meanings, conveying a sense of uncertainty.

One simple yet thematically and emotionally important question is left unanswered, and it's for the reader's imagination and reflection: why do these two friends not enjoy a seachore scene but argue something with each other then come to a "tempotary conclusion: to agree to disagree. "

L3 could funtion as an implied authorial comment on L2, which says something significant about the relationship between these two friends.

    A decptively simple relationship haiku!
