Bio Sketch
Damir Damir, aka Damir Janjalija, was born in Yugoslavia on a cold November day in 1977. A sailor with a poet's aura, dharma bum, roaming across the seven seas, from Japan to America, he has won several international haiku awards.
On a first reading, this haiku is seemingly "didactic" as shown in its concluding phrase, "gender neutral." However, on a second reading, it appears to pose a question: What's the difference, personal and sociocultural, between calling a river by a chosen name and giving a name to one's gender/orientation, while all the time water is just water, and humans are just humans?
