Bio Sketch
Susan Bonk Plumridge has been writing haiku since 2018. She keeps a record of what has been published on her blog www.plumbonkers.blogspot.ca Susan enjoys long walks in the woods near her home in London, Canada.
The humor in this Issa-esque haiku is quiet and observational rather than overtly jokey. The notion of “making friends / with the wind” (Ls 2&3) as a consequence of losing one’s hair (L 1) is subtle, understated, and broadly relatable.
ReplyDeleteL3 re-contextualizes the shaved head introduced in the opening, lending the poem a sense of motion and tactile sensation.
Dear Chen-ou Liu,
ReplyDeleteIn the previous edition you didn’t realize you were recognized until February… You know, what I’m talking about?
Just check the 2025 Fujisan Tanka Contest results and enjoy! They updated it… tomorrow (sic! – due to the time difference).
Congratulations once again!
