Bio Sketch

The phrase “holding open” creates a subtle double take. The reader initially assumes the door is being held open, but the haiku redirects that action toward the rain. This shift captures a distinctly melancholy mood—the sense of standing at a threshold where the boundary between interior and exterior, shelter and exposure, begins to dissolve.
ReplyDeleteWithout punctuation, the line moves in a single, unbroken breath, coming to rest only at the quiet weight of “the rain.”
