Bio Sketch
Ken
Sawitri was born in Blora, Central Java, Indonesia, and completed her
degree in psychology at the University of Indonesia. She was the
Psychology & Education editor of Ayahbunda (1995-1998). She had the first publication in Indonesian national mass media when she was in junior high school.
The theme-setting L1 refers to the backbreaking work from sunrise to sunset that lotus growers dig up the muddy lotus roots and wash them by hand. Ls 2&3 make this poem effective as a haiku with an aesthetic focus on the "hai."
