Bio Sketch

Shloka Shankar is a freelance writer residing in India. Her work appears in over two dozen international anthologies. Her haiku, haiga and tanka have appeared in numerous print and online journals. She is also the editor of the literary and arts journal, Sonic Boom.

  1. L1 establishes the theme of the poem while Ls 2&3 enhance its psychological impact on the speaker.

    Note: Generally speaking, (sky) lanterns are an integral part of all Asian countries growing rice including India as farmers used to light lanterns during the season change. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, and hope over despair...etc.
