One Man's Maple Moon: Walking Stick Tanka by Marilyn Fleming

English Original

a walking stick
sidestepping the twig --
all eyes on her
stilettos strutting
down cobblestone streets

  1. Combined with effective verbs, "sidestepping" and "strutting," the visually and emotionally contrasting juxtaposition between the two parts of the poem paints an appealing picture of a woman with a lively personality.
