a walking stick
sidestepping the twig --
all eyes on her
stilettos strutting
down cobblestone streets
Cattails, January 2016

一根手杖
迴避一個小樹枝 --

Bio Sketch
Marilyn Fleming was born and raised on a farm in Wisconsin USA. She won her first prize in the Hildegarde Janzen Oriental Forms Award in 1988. Samples of her poetry can be read on her website.
Combined with effective verbs, "sidestepping" and "strutting," the visually and emotionally contrasting juxtaposition between the two parts of the poem paints an appealing picture of a woman with a lively personality.
